چکیده

This paper considers the problem of measuring and analysing the frequency and phase angle variations which occur in a power system after a fault or disturbance. This is an important problem because the results of the analysis are used in implementing control strategies to avert generat,or cutout. Commonly, the frequency is not measured directly, but is inferred from the instantaneous power at the substation. Since there is a complicated non-linear relationship between the power and the frequency, some bias is incurred in the measurement. This paper proposes instead that the angle and or frequency be obtained directly via an analytic signal readily constructed from the 3-phase output of the power system. The paper also proposes enhancements for some of the currently employed signal analysis techniques, and a new technique based on an extension of Thompson’s harmonic line test.

An algorithm for power system disturbance monitoring

This paper presents a spectral analysis algorithm for monitoring the characteristics of the damped oscillating “modes” which are set up after a disturbance in an electric power distribution system. This monitoring is necessary so that one can detect early whether any modes are “inverse damped” (ie. exponentially growing), and hence likely to create instability in the power system. In this appli...

A Fast Voltage Collapse Detection and Prevention Based on Wide Area Monitoring and Control

Voltage stability is one of the most important factors in maintaining reliable operation of power systems. When a disturbance occurs in the power system, it usually causes instabilities and sometimes leads to voltage collapse (VC). To avoid such problems, a novel approach called Vector Analysis (VA) is proposed that exploits a new instability detection index to provide wide area voltage stabili...

Power Quality Data Analysis Using Unsupervised Data Mining

The rapid increase in the size of databases required to store power quality monitoring data has demanded new techniques for analysing and understanding the data. One suggested technique to assist in analysis is data mining. Data mining is a process that uses a variety of data analysis tools to identify hidden patterns and relationships within large samples of data. This paper presents several d...

Chaotic dynamic analysis and nonlinear control of blood glucose regulation system in type 1 diabetic patients

In this paper, chaotic dynamic and nonlinear control in a glucose-insulin system in types I diabetic patients and a healthy person have been investigated. Chaotic analysis methods of the blood glucose system include Lyapunov exponent and power spectral density based on the time series derived from the clinical data. Wolf's algorithm is used to calculate the Lyapunov exponent, which positive val...
